McAfee antivirus may be configured to the computers that have the Windows File Archiver agent installed. It allows for the scanning of procedures that are running on servers. By default, all these procedures are scanned in real-time for viruses that are known and if the documents are being processed for archiving. The Scanning Stage of archiving keeps tripping the scanning procedure for the anti-virus, which is quite resource-intensive. During the process, McAfee slows down computer.
On the other hand, the anti-malware may be configured to specify certain jobs as Low Risk, which may prevent triggering the scanning procedure for the anti-malware.
Follow the Actions given below to specify the archiving procedure as Low Risk:
1). On the System, Tray right-click the VirusScan Shield and click On-Access Scan Properties
2). In the event, the Low-Risk Icon is exhibited Skip to Step 4.
3). Click All Procedures.
- Click on the Process tab.
- Click Configure distinct scanning policies for insecure, low-risk, and default procedures.
- Click the Low-Risk Processes icon.
- Click Insert.
4). Click Browse to Visit the Software_Installation_Directory/Base folder and then add the following to the list:
- GXHSMStub.exe
- GXHSMService.ex (Make sure that the expansion is’.EX’)
- ClMgrS.exe
- CVD.exe
- CLRestore.exe
- CLBackup.exe
- Ifind.exe
5). Click on the Scan Things tab and then clear the following checkboxes:
- When writing to disc
- When reading from the disc

Configuring Windows Registry
1). Start the Registry Editor on the computer where the document archiver broker is installed.
2). Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetproviders cvmhsmParameters.
3). Right-click Parameters, stage at New, and click String Value.
In the Value Name box kind ExcludeProcessX.
4). Where X is the upcoming consecutive number from the listing (i.e. ExcludeProcess1, ExcludeProcess2, etc.. )) for almost any procedure that shouldn’t initiate recalls.
All of the ExcludeProcess titles have to be truncated to a maximum 15 character string value or the Windows OS Kernel Mode won’t process the exception correctly. This could lead to the exclusion being discounted, unexpected recalls happening, along with other unexplained stub actions.
5). Restart the Commvault solutions to your registry to take effect.
