How do I travel with a big family?

A big family doesn’t have much difference from a small family in terms of getting kids off to school, taking them to activities, counseling them on friendships, and helping with homework. We’re just a bit busier, though. Family vacations are so much better with a big family. Learn how to take the whole family on a trip!

Traveling with a large family? Here are some suggestions

Booking just one (legal) hotel room becomes impossible after three kids. There’s a possibility you might sneak in a few of your kids through the side door of the hotel for a single night. This will not tell your front desk how many people are in your room! It makes me nervous every time I do that,

I’m worried the hotel manager will ask us to leave! If we stay in a hotel room more than once, our preferred hotels are Residence Inns and Springhill Suites. Still, even these hotels don’t let us have 8 people in one room at once.

Usually, we stay in a condo or a rental house so everyone has a bed for the week (even if they have to share one). Plus, renting a home or a condo for 7 nights can be cheaper than staying in a hotel.

I can bring food in and cook some of your meals, so you can save money too. On the downside, there is no daily maid service. As a matter of course, when we visit our families on BMW I8 Price in Pakistan to Michigan and Florida, we stay with them for free and bring sleeping bags and pillows for the kids.

Find a Local Guide

To embark on a self-guided walking tour, search the internet or pick up a local guidebook. I can skip over stops that don’t interest me and start and end whenever you want (aside from any entrance fees).

Tips for Dining With Large Families While on Vacation

Every vacation should provide some respite from the day-to-day chores! In addition, there can be a lot of costs involved when dining out on vacation. So we try to balance eating out at restaurants and on the road fast food with some home-cooked meals whenever we can. I can save some money by dining out for lunch instead of dinner. Also, we bring snacks from home to eat on the road and to satisfy an overtired kid who has been to too many places in one day.

Plan in Advance

Large families are hard to be nimble with. When you show up at a restaurant at 7 pm with 8 people, they’re not gonna seat you right away. Establish a definite itinerary with backup suggestions.

This is not to say that we aren’t flexible, and we won’t change our schedule if something appealing appears right in front of us, or if the attraction we visit isn’t any fun. A game plan is always a good idea!

Final Words

We are not seeking a picture-perfect holiday, nor is it realistic. The journey is bound to have some glitches, no matter how minor. A canceled tour, a canceled reservation, a child throwing a tantrum, or getting lost for an hour are only a few examples. I’m creating life-long cherished memories for your children as well as yourself, so don’t stress too much about bumps in the road.
